Animal Support ...

I'm sad to report that my favorite bunny, "Sara", died last night around 10 PM. Last month, I had 3 rabbits. Sara's daughter died about a month ago, from age and complications from a flea infestation.

All of my rabbits are "rescue rabbits". All were from other homes, whose owners could no longer care for them. Sara was found living in a bird cage on someone's porch, when her daughter ("Sweetie Pie") was small enough to fit in a coffee mug. I had Sara and Sweetie for about 9 years, so each lived a rather long life for a rabbit.

I've had many pets, and been around many different kinds of animals, over the years. Domestic and exotic. I never really bonded with any of them, until I got my first rabbit.

Rabbits represent my childhood. I will always have them around for this reason. Rabbits are "prey anmals" - everything is their enemy. I grew up like this, so I understand them. They are also EXCELLENT teachers of love and affection. They don't ask permission of each other when giving affection, they are never rejected for it, either. There is no ceremony. They simply give, and (unlike cats) never "impose" themselves on someone.

Sara had a sneezing problem for the last year, which I knew would eventually end her life. On Thursday, she started to have trouble breathing, an began wheezing and hanging her head. Later on Friday, she kept sinking lower and lower, and her breathing became more shallow. Around 10 PM, I went upstairs for about 15 minutes, and when I came back, she had died.

Most of my rabbits died when I was away. Sara was no different, in a way, but I was able to stay with her most of the time, even up to the end. I used Reiki and the Seichim energies to help her with the pain and make her as comfortable as I could.

I loved that bunny "MORE than sunshine", and that's not any kind of exaggeration! If I could have Sara back, and all of the rest of my days would be cloudy and overcast, I'd make that trade without another thought!

I also buried my aunt's dog on Thursday. Her dog became ill without warning, late Monday. It was diagnosed with a brain stem problem and she had the choice of spending nearly $200 a month (or more) on medications or just putting the dog "down". So, the vet euthanized her late Wednesday evening, and I buried her around noon on Thursday.

Terri's friend, David, also had a cat that became ill on Monday. It was treated and released a day or two later, only to die on Friday.

It's been a difficult week for animal friends.

Thoughtful writing, Patrick. Appreciate your sharing this with us. Gives me cause to pause as animals haven't played such a significant part of my life these last few years. Wonderful you've found animal friends that can give you so much. Love, Arupo
